For Partners & Insurance

The surveyor did the inspection. Now the record proves it.

Insurance underwriters, marine lenders, yacht brokerages, and charter operators all depend on marine surveyors — but the record they depend on has historically been a Word document, emailed as a PDF, with photos in a separate attachment. SurveyOS replaces that with a tamper-evident, SHA-256 anchored, standards-referenced record of every inspection your partners perform.

Current design partners include insurance firms, charter operators, and brokerages across Florida, Panama, and the Caribbean.

Observation

Port raw-water hose at heat exchanger inlet weeping at clamp; salt crystallization on hose barb.

Inferred cause

Clamp tension has relaxed with age; hose material likely hardened.

Recommendation

Replace raw-water hose run; install double stainless T-bolt clamps; pressure-test.

Trust, by design

Six pillars your underwriters and legal team can point at.

These aren't bullet points in a pitch deck. Each one is enforced at the application layer, the database layer, and the rendered report.

🔒

Tamper-evident reports

Every issued report is frozen as an immutable payload with a SHA-256 content hash. Modify anything — a finding, a photo, a recommendation — and a new versioned report is produced with clear lineage to the original. The record never quietly changes.

📎

Evidence chain by design

Every photo, measurement, and document attached during inspection carries a SHA-256 digest captured at the point of upload. The hash travels with the evidence into the report. A photo substituted after the fact is detectable in seconds.

⚖️

Observation vs. inference, always separate

The surveyor's raw observation, their professional inference about cause, and their recommended action are three distinct fields — through the UI, database, and rendered output. Your underwriters see facts first, interpretation second, explicitly labeled.

📚

Standards-referenced, not standards-quoted

Findings reference ABYC, NAMS, SAMS, and OEM standards by family and key. SurveyOS never reproduces copyrighted standards text — it points you at the authoritative source, keeping your partners legally clean.

🛡️

Tenant isolation at the database layer

Row-level security policies in Postgres enforce tenant boundaries below the application layer. Even if an application bug leaked, the data layer would refuse the query. Your surveyor's data cannot be reached by any other firm's users.

📋

Complete audit trail

Every mutation — create, update, delete, export, report issuance, signature — is logged append-only at the database trigger level. The log cannot be tampered with by application code. When a claim escalates, the record is complete.

Bind faster, with more confidence

SurveyOS condition reports are filtered to safety, seaworthiness, compliance, and insurance-readiness impacts — the exact scope you care about. CRITICAL and HIGH findings flag missing evidence before you ever see the report. Frozen payloads mean what you see on binding day is what's on file at renewal.

Valuation and condition, one dossier

Pre-purchase surveys carry vessel record, component manifest, complete finding set, and — where the surveyor is licensed to provide it — a signed valuation section. Work-order convertibility means "conditional closing on repairs" has a clean post-closing record.

The buyer's surveyor and yours, on the same page

When a pre-purchase survey comes back with critical findings, you need to know what's worth negotiating and what's worth walking away from. SurveyOS reports separate observation from inference — your broker can read the facts, not the interpretation, and decide with their client.

Your compliance record, always current

Annual or pre-season inspections captured in SurveyOS produce a full condition dossier per vessel. Service history grows automatically from completed work orders. When a claim or charter-guest dispute escalates, the evidence is already assembled.

Haul-out inspections that integrate with your ops

When a vessel goes up on the hard, the surveyor's tablet already has the right inspection template loaded. Findings convert to work orders. Your yard schedules the work. Completed work writes to the vessel's service history. No re-entry.

"The defensibility of the report is what sold us. When the surveyor separates observation from inference, our underwriting team stops second-guessing and starts binding."
